Don and Susan

Susan
Susan is the Vice President of Communications for a Washington, DC trade association. It may or may not involve copious amounts of candy and chocolate. She is originally from Ocean City, MD, though she defected to Virginia for college and, except for a brief stint right after school, has been there ever since. Susan is crafty – and not in the conniving, sneaky kind of way … in the glue gun and decoupage kind of way.  She’s making the wedding invitations, programs and who knows what else herself. Yes, she’s also crazy. She's also been keeping a blog about the wedding plans since July 2008.

Don
Don is a computer geek by day working for a large public university whose namesake did not sign the Declaration of Independence (he was holding out for a Bill of Rights). When he's not working hard to serve the state, Don is a writer for a local city blog. He was born in Miami and stayed there for more than 30 years. In an effort to leave behind the heat and humidity, Don moved to the more temperate climate of Washington, DC in 2002 (this is sarcasm).

Susan and Don

Our first date was February 8, 2003 at Ireland's Four Provinces in Falls Church, Va. According to Paul, Don's roommate at the time, Don came home from our first date and asked Paul if he would attend our wedding. Susan came home from the first date talking about lobotomies - and it didn't even have anything to do with how she felt about Don or the date.

We knew we'd be stuck with one another when we started our business venture, Nice Mirror. It was really all Don's idea - but Susan stole it from him and made it bigger (and better).

On May 30, 2008, after a picnic dinner on Roosevelt Island, Don got down on one knee (not two knees - that's begging) and proposed to Susan. Read more about the proposal.
