Transportation
A shuttle service will be offered from the Francis Scott Key Resort to 41st Street. The shuttle will depart from the front of the Carolina building where most of your rooms are located. Depatures begin at 4:15 and leave every 15 minutes until 5 PM. Please be certain you are on a shuttle no later than 5 PM or plan to drive to the wedding site (allow an extra 10 minutes to park if you plan to drive).

The shuttle will drop off our guests at the foot of the dunes leading to the wedding site, and will return to the reception site to shuttle guests back to the resort at the end of the evening.

Transportation between the wedding site and the reception site is on foot, about two blocks.

Parking (for those who wish to drive and those who miss the shuttles)
There is ample parking for our guests in one of two lots located directly between the wedding site (ocean front) and the reception site (bay front).

Guests should park in one of two locations for the wedding and reception:

  1. Parking lot of the Roland Powell Convention Center, 41st Street and Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD
  2. Parking lot for the Sunset Room (reception location), adjacent to the Convention Center (at the west end of 42nd Street)

To find the ceremony location from the mainland, head east toward the Atlantic Ocean and access the beach from the dune crossing at 41st Street. Transportation between the wedding site and the reception site is on foot, about two short blocks.

Attire
Susan will be wearing a long, ivory dress and Don will be wearing a tuxedo, so guests are encouarged to dress for the occasion. However, this is a beach wedding and we want our guests to be comfortable. Keep in mind that the ceremony takes place on sand and that there is a two block walk to the reception site - please bring shoes that can make the trip with you. The reception site also has a two level wooden deck with narrow slats between the boards (very skinny heels may be a problem, but [speaking from experience] Susan knows that if you're the type to wear skinny heels this is not going to matter one bit!).

Update: January 26
We've been asked by a lot of people for some more specifics about appropriate attire for a beach wedding.

For the girls: sundresses, day dresses, flowy linen pants with lightweight and summery blouses. Anything you'd find among the pages of J Crew catalog.

For the boys: light weight / colored suits, khaki pants, white shirts, summery ties. Jackets not required since we don't know if we're dealing with an 82 degree day or a 52 degree day. Again, anything you'd find on the pages of a J Crew catalog will work.

Here's a picture for inspiration:
what to wear
Be comfortable. See how one guy has a tie and no jacket and
another guy has a jacket and no tie? One woman is wearing linen pants
and a silky top and another is wearing a halter dress. You probably already
own the perfect thing!

Weather
Could be really hot. Could be really cool. Be prepared either way.

Here's a list of the low and high temps on May 2 for the past 5 years:
2008: 59 / 82 degrees
2007: 55 / 80 degrees
2006: 39 / 63 degrees (yeah, we know. 39 degrees.)
2005: 53 / 60 degrees
2004: 57 / 68 degrees
