At this point, it seems likely that the Sunset Room is not going to work out. The Assistant Director never did get back in touch with me or with Don, so my assumption at this time is that they just don’t want our business.
So while we’re not giving up completely, we’re starting to look into the alternatives.
I am always a study in contrasts, so you probably won’t be too surprised to learn that if the whole beach wedding doesn’t work out, my second choice would be a barn.
Actually, I suppose the two locations are not hugely different in terms of the personality of the event. Both locations represent places where a couple can have some elements of a formal wedding in very casual places.

In fact, the rustic barn wedding vibe is not that different than our every day style. We live in a stone cottage built in 1930 with a big stone fireplace in the living room. We even have one of those rusty metal stars you often see on old barns hanging over that stone fireplace.
Here’s an initial style board that illustrates some of the things about a barn wedding that appeal to me.

We saw a really great wedding (seriously - we watched the ceremony!) at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. And Las Vegas is only an hour away! Ed and I would be happy to plan everything for you. We also drove by 3 blocks of wedding chapels. Would you prefer Irish themed or where Joan Collins was hitched?

…any news?

No news. The AD never called back. No one else called either. Yesterday Don sent the AD an e-mail saying we were really disappointed not to have heard from anyone and she seemed sort-of surprised, but still had a pocketful of excuses. She said she would speak again with the director. They were in storm prep mode, though … so it’s not surprising that no one called back yesterday.
