The problem with writing this wedding blog is that I never know how much people who are attending the wedding want to know in advance. Do you like that you’ve basically seen the invitations even though they have not yet arrived in the mail?
Today I’m going to let you decide if you want to keep the centerpieces a surprise or if you’re ready to see them now. If you want to be surprised, come back another day. If you want to see them keep reading.
Here is our centerpiece:

I bought the white lanterns from Ikea in September but I hadn’t really had a chance to figure out what I wanted to do with them. This evening, while browsing through Michael’s, I spotted something called burlap garland. I thought it would be nice to loosely wrap or drape around the lanterns and tuck sea shells into the burlap.
I like the way it turned out. Here’s an aerial:
The candle is actually nestled in some sand, though you can’t tell in these pictures. Truthfully, I’m not sure you can tell in person either so that part might not be necessary.
And finally, a close up:

Have you checked with your venue to make sure that you can use these candles? And not have to get a fire permit? We have certain candles you can use here in our building and otherwise you have to go through the fire department and get their approval…. (It’s not terribly expensive, I think about $80 here)
just throwing it out there…

It was one of the first things we asked when we visited the site. They allow just about anything. In fact, they warned us that since it’s basically open on two sides and one of those is the bay, it can get a little breezy and we might have trouble keeping the candles lit. Hence the lantern to enclose the flame.

Am just realizing that I never updated my RSS reader to incorporate your new site feed…which is why I’m just getting to this post. They’re so pretty!
